Why Brigid?
Imbolc is the first whisper of spring in the Celtic calendar... the moment the light starts to come back. In Ireland, that light has a name: Brigid. Goddess of poetry and healing. Patroness saint of the hearth. Keeper of the flame in Kildare for 1,500 years. Feminist icon long before we had the word.
Kildare is her heartland, and at the end of January the whole town remembers in celebration - lively, local-led, and a little bit witchy in the best way. That Practical Magic feeling that's whimsical, a little magical, like maybe we all have a little power after all. If you've been craving more lightness, more fire, and more magic in your real life, this is where you come live it.
This is your kind of trip if...
You want to travel without following a flag through a crowd of 40 people.
You like the important things handled, with free time to wander.
You're curious about the history and traditions behind a place.
You'd pick a pottery class or seaweed bath over another souvenir shop.
You want to meet other curious, independent women.
You're happy with both "this is amazing" and "let's sit here another hour."

For the women who want more magic
This isn't a pilgrimage to power through, and it isn't a checklist of sights to tick off. It's what happens when women slow down, gather, and simply celebrate each other.
There's something magical about a room full of women who arrived as strangers and leave as something closer to family. It's the shared laughter, the stories, and that feeling you get from a shared experience.
That's the heart of this trip. Not an agenda to get through. It's the ability to rest, to reconnect, to find the spark that maybe got a little dim somewhere between all the things you carry for everyone else.
Come for the wonder. Come for the women. Leave as sisters, lighter than you came.
The experiences
Weave a Brigid's cross
Spend time at Solas Bhríde learning the living craft of weaving Crosóg Bríde and hearing the folklore behind this ancient seasonal talisman.
Carry her flame
Join a candlelit pilgrimage between Brigid's holy wells on the eve of St. Brigid's Day.
Celebrate + community
Kildare and Dublin in full celebration. Music on Market Squares, dance in the streets, gatherings in halls, the whole town illuminated for her. We're not watching from the edge...we're in it, with the locals who've kept her flame alive for generations.
Step into your goddess energy
In Dublin we sit with Flowerpop, the studio behind Brigit's official crown workshops, and make our own. You pick your stems and craft something truly magical to wear... playful, hands-in-flowers, very midnight-margaritas-in-the-kitchen.
Ireland through music
From a cathedral concert that gives you chills to a pub session where you're singing by the second chorus, there will be plenty of opportunities to hear Ireland rather than simply look at her.
Shared Meals
Pull up a seat. Farm-to-table meals. Seasonal food made to be shared. A chance to slow down, eat well, and stay for one more story, one more cup of tea or wine.
Hands-on
On the Sligo journey, get your hands into the clay during a relaxed pottery workshop and create something to take home.
Reset by the coast
Atlantic air, coastal walks, traditional seaweed bath in Strandhill. Mineral-rich, a little wild, deeply nourishing. This is your time to pause, rest, reset, and reconnect.
“A chance encounter with Richelle led me to participate in a wonderful yoga retreat in the magical town of San Miguel de Allende... I ended up meeting some amazing women and forging what I hope will be lifelong friendships.”

The journey
Choose the five-night Brigid immersion or view the complete ten-day journey through Kildare, Dublin and Sligo.
Day 1 · Arrive in Kildare
Settle into our stay, unpack and unwind before joining Richelle for our opening dinner.
Day 2 · Kildare
A morning workshop at Solas Bhríde, joining in the Féile Bríde tradition of weaving your own St. Brigid's cross alongside other visitors gathered for the festival. From there, we'll wander Kildare together as festival season builds. Throughout the day, expect the town to come alive with festival energy: live music, cathedral concerts, and community celebrations, with the full Féile Bríde programme confirmed closer to the date.
Day 3 · St. Brigid's Eve
A visit to Kildare Cathedral, including the round tower experience, followed by a candlelit pilgrimage to Brigid's holy wells at 6pm, walking between the wells as dusk falls and the parades begin. As Féile Bríde builds toward St. Brigid's Day itself, expect the town buzzing with anticipation; full programme details to follow.

Day 4 · St. Brigid's Day · Kildare → Dublin
Morning train to Dublin, then straight into the good stuff. Meeting House Square is taken over for Imbolc Fair. Music, performers, artisan markets, parades and a Flower Crown Workshop. You choose your blooms and make a crown befitting Brigid herself. After, we wander the parade lighting up the streets and gather for Brigid's Feast special dinner.

Day 5 · Dublin
A slower day in the city. We'll include a Brigid-related cultural experience, then you'll have time to explore Dublin your way, museums, books, shopping, coffee, Guinness, whatever makes you happy. Evening free for traditional music.
Day 6 · Dublin → Sligo
Check out and say your goodbyes. For those continuing on, we'll head west by train to Sligo. Check in, settle in and gather for dinner. Then the pace changes, welcome to the slow-travel part of the journey.

Why I always recommend the full journey
It's a different kind of travel... not more sightseeing, but the chance to actually slow down.
After several days of festivals, celebrations and city energy, we head west to the Atlantic coast.
There will be pottery and seaweed baths. Dramatic landscapes and coastal walks. Good food and traditional music.
And there will be something I think women don't get enough of on some group trips: time.
Time to wander. Time to sit. Time to have a massage. Time to explore. Time to do absolutely nothing.
This is the Rest + Reset part of the journey.
Where we'll stay
Boutique heritage character, warm fires, and restorative spaces chosen for comfort, hospitality, and authentic sense of place.

Booking & rooms
How do I book my spot?
expand_more
All spots are booked via a $500 USD deposit. This is required to hold your spot and is non-refundable. Accepted payments: CC, PayPal, Wise or bank transfer. If you require any other than CC, please email hello@richelletakesyou.com to receive links and payment information. The full balance is due 30 days prior to arrival. Payment plans are available. Simply reach out and we'll get that sorted. If the full amount feels like a lot up front, we offer a payment plan, just ask and we'll walk you through it. We'd rather see you on this trip than see cost be the reason you weren't.
What's the cancellation/refund policy?
expand_more

How does room sharing work?
expand_more
Shared means you share with another woman (two beds), either the person you are travelling with or we thoughtfully pair you. Single rooms remain available for the 5-night journey and are sold out for the 10-day journey. One thing worth knowing: a private room isn't an upcharge we add, it's simply the hotel's actual rate for a single room. When you share, you're splitting that same rate with your roommate. We're not marking anything up either way.
How does roommate matching work for the shared rate?
expand_more
If you need a roommate match, this will be noted, and as bookings come in I'll do my best to pair guests. If no roommate can be found or matched, you're responsible for the single-rate difference.
How limited are the single rooms?
expand_more
Singles for the 10-day journey are officially sold out - all 4 were booked! If you'd still like a private room, email me and I'll reach out right away if one opens up. The 5-night option still has single availability.

I don't have anyone to travel with... is that okay?
expand_more
Absolutely! Most women who join us arrive solo, that's the norm here, not the exception. By the time you land, you'll already have a group chat going.
What if I'm nervous about solo international travel?
expand_more
That's completely normal, and you're not alone in feeling it. We handle the logistics, provide a detailed itinerary, and you'll have my support (and the group's) from the moment you book. Most women tell me the nerves disappear within hours of meeting everyone.
What age range typically joins?
expand_more
Women generally range from their late 30s to mid 60s, with most in their 40s and 50s. Age isn't what bonds this group, it's the shared curiosity, sense of adventure, and willingness to say yes to something new.
Will we "meet" the group before arrival?
expand_more
Yes. We host a pre-trip group video call so you can meet fellow travelers, ask questions, and get excited together before you even pack your bag.
Will I receive travel logistics support?
expand_more
Yes. After you book, you receive a welcome email to confirm your booking. We also host a group chat on WhatsApp before departure so you can meet fellow travelers and ask questions. This will be set-up after January 1, 2027. And if you are planning further travels or need more support, Richelle offers personalized trip planning services at different tiers for your budget. Simple email to chat more about your needs.
Looking to extend your trip and need support?
expand_more
Richelle offers trip planning and design services to support your travel before or beyond the group trip, from accommodation and transport to a day-by-day itinerary. Email hello@richelletakesyou.com to inquire about package rates.
Getting there & around
What airport do we fly into?
expand_more
Dublin Airport (DUB). We recommend arriving by the afternoon of January 29 so you can settle in before our welcome gathering that evening.
Are the trains between Kildare, Dublin and Sligo included?
expand_more
The train from Kildare to Dublin on the morning of February 1 and from Dublin to Sligo on February 3 are included. Any additional trains are not.
What transportation extras should I factor in?
expand_more
Transportation that isn’t part of the planned itinerary is at your own expense. This includes:
- The taxi to and from the pottery workshop in Sligo
- Any additional taxis, buses or trains you choose to take
- Extra time in a location if you decide not to return with the group
- Onward travel after the trip ends, whether that’s in Dublin on February 3rd or in Sligo on February 7th
Each of these is paid directly by you at the time.
Do I need a car?
expand_more
A car is not required. Group transfers from Kildare to Dublin and Dublin to Sligo are included. But if you feel a car would be beneficial, you are more than welcome to organize one.
On the ground
What meals are included?
expand_more
Breakfast is included daily. We also include several group dinners. You'll have free time to explore local pubs and cafes for other meals.
Dietary needs and allergies
You are welcome to join with dietary needs or allergies, but I cannot guarantee that meals or experiences will accommodate them. Menus can be limited, and I am not able to arrange specialized meals for medical dietary needs such as celiac disease or severe allergies. I will pass along any needs you share to the restaurants for the meals included in the itinerary, but you are responsible for confirming ingredients and managing your own dietary choices. A surcharge may apply for any specialized accommodation.
What is the fitness level?
expand_more
This trip is designed for an easy to moderate activity level. Most days include walking through town, gentle countryside strolls, and some standing during workshops and festival events, often on cobblestones, hills or uneven ground. Nothing strenuous is required, and this isn’t a trip built around physical challenge. The pace is relaxed, but the group moves together and the itinerary stays as planned, so please be honest with yourself about your comfort level before booking. If you have a mobility consideration, an energy limit, or recent injury or surgery, tell me when you book so we can talk through whether the trip is a good fit.
Tell me about the pottery workshop
expand_more
In Sligo we’ll spend a hands-on session at a local pottery studio. Your workshop, all materials, firing and glaze are included. Getting to and from the studio is not included, so you’ll want to factor in a short taxi ride, which we will share as a group. If you would like your finished ceramics sent to you once firing is complete, you can discuss shipping costs with the pottery guide.
What's the weather like in early February?
expand_more
Expect cool, crisp winter weather with temperatures around 5 to 10°C (40 to 50°F). Rain is always possible, so layers and a waterproof jacket are your best friends.
What's the tipping/gratuities policy for group meals outside what's included?
expand_more
Tipping is at your discretion. For group meals that are included, gratuities are handled. If you dine on your own, standard local tipping applies.
